Hello, my name is Derrick Eason and I am an artist , writer, animator, sculptor. My business partner and I have a indie comic company called Sinister Comics Studios. Our website is www.wix.com/sinistercomicstudios/scs We've also written four screenplays between the two of us. We are currently trying to get a foot in the door of the entertainment industry. I do have representation at the moment, but we are located in NC. My question to you is do you have any advise on what we could do to further our pursuit of the "American Dream". Once people see our works and read our scripts, they often say that all we need to do is meet the right person. I know that this may not be the "right way" to approach someone who is in the industry, but "Opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door." Thank you for your time. Happy New year Derrick! I checked out your website and am very impressed. You’re quite talented. I’m not sure what advice to give, but would say that since you do have representation, what are they doing for you on a regular basis? It seems to me that, if you haven’t already, you may want to have someone break the scripts down from a production standpoint (executive summary, budget, etc…). If you have a complete package, then it’s easier for your representation to do their job. If you were in LA, I’d say to go to seminars/events where you have the opportunity to pitch your projects, but it’s a little more difficult since you’re in NC. You might also do a little research to find out what companies have produced projects similar to yours and target them accordingly. Hope this helps to some degree. Best wishes for an amazing 2011.
